More Than Just a Charter
MFM Sport Fishing is a Cheboygan-based charter fishing company with a simple mission: get you out past the pier and put you on fish. We run guided trips on Lake Huron, Mullett Lake, and Saginaw Bay — covering some of Northern Michigan's best and most diverse fisheries. Whether you're a seasoned angler chasing trophy lake trout on the big lake or a parent bringing your kid on their very first fishing trip, we treat every charter like it matters. Because to us, it does.
We're known at the marina for our personalities, our patience with beginners and kids, and our ability to make everyone on the boat feel welcome. That's who Jon and Nick are — and that's what every MFM trip feels like.

Captain Jon Kennedy
USCG Licensed Master Captain · Owner, MFM Sport Fishing
Licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, Captain Jon Kennedy grew up fishing Saginaw Bay, the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, and Lake Huron. For the past 12 years, he has lived in Northern Michigan, running charters and fishing the Inland Waterway and Northern Lake Huron. Jon is passionate about making sure everyone on his boat has a great time. He enjoys teaching new anglers, working with kids, and sharing the experience of Michigan fishing with everyone who steps aboard. His goal on every trip is simple: put you on fish and make sure you have a day worth talking about.

Captain Nick Laurie

Captain Nick Laurie grew up fishing the same waters as Jon, spending his early years on Saginaw Bay, the Detroit River, and Lake St. Clair before making the move to Northern Michigan to chase his passion for fishing full time. He knows the local waters inside and out and loves sharing that knowledge with guests — whether it's talking fishing strategy, local history, or what makes each fishery unique. Nick is also the man behind the fillet table, making sure your catch is cleaned and ready to take home. He takes pride in every part of the trip, from first lines in the water to the last fish of the day.
